Damien Kauffman, Online Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist, and Sexologist
I am a Belgian clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, and sexologist. I exclusively offer videoconference consultations to French and English-speaking adults, whether they live in Belgium or abroad.
My background is at the crossroads of clinical psychology, psychotherapy, organizational psychology, and the understanding of relational dynamics. For over twenty years, I have supported individuals, teams, and professionals facing periods of tension, self-questioning, exhaustion, or transition.
This dual clinical and organizational experience allows me to take into account the person as a whole: their history, relationships, family environment, professional life, culture, and the changes they are going through.
Consultations take place online, in French or English.
Videoconferencing allows you to consult from home or abroad while maintaining a regular, confidential, and professional framework. It is particularly suitable for people who travel, live abroad, have little time to commute, or wish to consult a French or English-speaking psychologist regardless of their location.
My practice remains attached to the Belgian professional and administrative framework. When conditions are met, a certificate for a Belgian mutual insurance company can be provided upon request.
Consultations are strictly for adults. They do not constitute an emergency service and do not replace local medical, psychiatric, or hospital care when necessary.

My Therapeutic Approach
A primarily systemic perspective
My approach is first and foremost systemic. This means I do not consider a difficulty as an isolated problem or a fixed characteristic of the person.
I am equally interested in:
- the relationships in which the difficulty appears;
- the events that triggered it;
- the reactions that may involuntarily maintain it;
- the family, emotional, professional, or cultural context;
- the resources already present;
- the concrete changes capable of restoring a margin of maneuver.
Anxiety, exhaustion, or relational difficulty do not always carry the same meaning depending on the person's history, values, and environment.
An integrative and personalized approach
I do not seek to apply a single method to everyone.
My work is integrative: it can mobilize various recognized psychological and psychotherapeutic frameworks, depending on the request, the situation, and how the person understands what they are experiencing.
Some people need to better understand the mechanisms that repeat themselves. Others wish to clarify a choice, regain stability, experiment with new ways of acting, or have concrete tools between sessions.
The support is therefore tailored to:
- your goals;
- your pace;
- your culture;
- your values;
- your way of thinking;
- the concrete realities of your life.
I do not use energetic or spiritual approaches as a framework for care. My work is based on explicit psychological, psychotherapeutic, and psychosocial benchmarks.
Understanding without boxing in
A diagnosis can sometimes be useful, but a person is never reduced to a diagnostic category.
Therapeutic work aims primarily to understand:
- what is happening to you;
- how the difficulty took hold;
- what activates or maintains it;
- what you have already tried;
- what could become more sustainable;
- what resources can be reactivated.
I favor accessible language, without unnecessary jargon or simplistic promises.

Clinical, Organizational, and Intercultural Experience
My professional journey began in human resources management, team coordination, and psychosocial intervention.
Notably, I held responsibilities or carried out missions with Handicap International in Afghanistan, the Belgian Red Cross in Sri Lanka, the French Red Cross in Burkina Faso, and Doctors Without Borders Belgium.
These experiences confronted me with highly diverse human and cultural realities: working in crisis contexts, psychosocial support, team coordination, professional support, addiction prevention, cultural diversity, and organizational transformation.
Today, they enrich my clinical practice, particularly when personal difficulties are linked to:
- work;
- expatriation;
- a change in role;
- cultural differences;
- a difficult institutional environment;
- a tension between external expectations and personal needs.
Alongside my clinical practice, my activity record includes over 300 collective interventions since 2003: training sessions, team support, supervisions, intervisions, and critical incident interventions.
Support Devices and Collaborations
I also intervene in certain psychological support frameworks related to professional life.
Workplace Options
Since 2023, I provide psychological support interviews and interventions following critical events as part of Workplace Options.
Fedris and Sensecare (CESI)
I also receive people admitted to the Fedris and Sensecare burn-out prevention pathways. Consultations are then part of the psychological component of the program and comply with the specific rules of this device.
Selected Publications and Contributions
My background also includes writing articles, educational materials, and publications dedicated to relational dynamics, social psychology, interculturality, and psychosocial support.
Among these contributions:
- L'équipe en crise (The team in crisis), published in 2015 in Les Cahiers internationaux de psychologie sociale;
- Les rencontres multiculturelles (Multicultural encounters), educational publication by CDGAI in 2012;
- Les orientations relationnelles en interculturalité (Relational orientations in interculturality), published in 2010 in Les Cahiers internationaux de psychologie sociale;
Today, Psychotime extends this transmission work by offering accessible psychological articles and resources to the public.
What to Expect from Our Sessions
An initial consultation helps clarify:
- what brings you here;
- how the situation developed;
- what is currently weighing on you;
- what you wish to understand or change;
- the type of work that might suit you.
I will not ask you to tell everything immediately. We advance progressively, depending on what is useful and bearable.
Depending on your needs, exercises, self-observation tools, or reflection materials may be suggested between sessions to extend the therapeutic work. Their use always remains optional.
Consultations last a maximum of 50 minutes. They are not recorded, and no audio, video, or digital recording is allowed by either party.
